The OCIA Rite
Inquiry
The OCIA rite has multiple steps. As an interested person, you can expect that we will provide you with the knowledge and support for you to become a fully initiated member of the Catholic Church. Our expectations are that you are committed to this Journey.
This commitment starts with regularly attending our Tuesday evening sessions, about an hour and a half long. The information presented during the Inquiry sessions is designed to help you discern if you want to continue your Journey. We also invite you to join us at Sunday Mass.
Rite of Acceptance
Following the Inquiry portion is the Rite of Acceptance, where additional time commitment is added. Participants delve into deeper learning about the Catholic faith and gain a sponsor to help where needed. Most Sundays from the Rite of Acceptance (Advent) to Palm Sunday, there will be a dismissal from Mass to further explore the Word of the day.
Completion of the Journey
The Journey continues on Tuesday evenings through May and ends with a Mass to celebrate our Journeys and a Pot Luck Dinner.
The last part of everyone’s commitment is that you feel welcomed by God and our community. Our hope is that you will want to become an active member of our parish and our Catholic Community.
